Digital signage screen with analogue clock widget
To kick off our Widget of the Week series, we'll start at the top of the Widget menu with the Analogue clock. With no less than 19 different style of clock to choose from, the Analogue Clock widget is perfect for adding that bit of sparkle to a digital signage screen - although even we have to admit that with some of the clock styles, its probably a good idea to add a digital clock on the screen too!

Whilst not especially functional, an analogue clock does add a touch of class to a digital signage screen, especially when the clock is fully animated, even with a ticking second hand!

As with all widgets, the position and sizing of the clock within the digital signage screen is set by simply clicking and dragging out an area in the Scenes layout tool within the MediaCAT's easy to use web interface. Moving the clock around is just as easy - simply click drag to re-position the clock wherever you want on the screen.

Scenes can be nested, so you can create a parent scene which can contain all of your logos and headings and perhaps a footer with some scrolling text messages at the bottom. New scenes can be created as children of this parent scene, and they will automatically display the headers and footers you have setup in the parent. The heading on a parent scene is the ideal place to put a widget like the analogue clock!

Techie footnote: This widget is completely constructed using HTML5, no flash is used anywhere!
